About Strange Animals

The world's strangest animals. Rigorously covered.

Pistol shrimps that make plasma hotter than the sun. Octopuses with three hearts and blue blood. Tardigrades that survive in space. The animal kingdom is stranger than fiction, and we document all of it with scientific precision.

OUR MISSION

Wildlife science deserves a serious publication.

Strange Animals reporting on wildlife meets the same rigour as the science it shares. Every statement about temperature ranges, distribution and behaviour cites peer-reviewed literature, IUCN assessments or direct field observation.

Our team includes wildlife biologists, marine researchers and science journalists who know the difference between what the evidence supports and what makes a good headline. We do not conflate the two.

Across seven categories, we document over 750 species and each article is verified against primary literature before release.

Seven categories. Thousands of species.

This spans from apex predators through microscopic organisms to the animals that share our homes.

One standard. Every article.

The journey from paper to page for a story.

1ResearchWe start with peer-reviewed papers, IUCN assessments, museum databases and field data. Not other blogs.
2WriteWriters with biology degrees or years of wildlife journalism turn research into articles people want to read.
3VerifyEvery fact, number and claim is cross-checked against multiple sources before anything goes live.
4UpdateWhen taxonomy changes or new species are found, we update. Every article shows when it was last revised.
